LabVet in practice
Everyday situations in practices, referral clinics and veterinary pathology laboratories, and how LabVet Studio handles them. Illustrative scenarios, not client case studies.
Use case 01 · Referral pathology laboratory
From a biopsy in the post to a signed report at the referring vet
- dAI Edge
- dAI DataHub
- dAI Clarity
A biopsy arrives with a handwritten submission form. Accessioning, block and slide tracking, the pathologist's report and the invoice live in separate tools, and the referring vet calls to ask where the case is.
The specimen is accessioned on arrival and linked to the animal, owner and referring vet. Every block, slide and stain is tracked through processing, the pathologist signs out from a queue, and the signed report and the invoice go out from the same record.
The status of any case is visible without walking to the bench, the referring vet gets the report the moment it is signed, and nothing is invoiced twice or not at all.
- Submission form checked for completeness before the case is accessioned
- Block, slide and stain tracking with the location of every case
- Sign-out queue per pathologist with turnaround visible
- Report delivered to the referring vet and invoice raised from the same case record

Use case 02 · Small-animal practice
In-house haematology and biochemistry read against the right reference ranges
- dAI Edge
- dAI Inference
- dAI Clarity
In-house analysers print results that someone retypes into the practice system, and a value that is normal for a Greyhound is flagged as if it came from a Labrador.
Analyser results are imported automatically with their metadata, checked on arrival and compared against reference ranges for the animal's species, breed and age. Out-of-range values are flagged, with the reason shown.
No retyping, no missed flags, and fewer false alarms on breeds and species with their own normal values.
- Direct connectors for in-house analysers, no retyping
- Species-, breed- and age-appropriate reference ranges
- Technical checks and quality control before a value reaches the clinician
- Trend view across the animal's previous results

Use case 03 · Veterinary oncology
Whole-slide images compared across timepoints, with AI as a second pair of eyes
- dAI DataHub
- dAI Inference
- dAI Clarity
Follow-up biopsies are read months apart, the earlier slides are hard to find, and mitotic counts are done by eye under time pressure.
Whole-slide images are stored with the case and opened side by side across timepoints. AI screening proposes mitotic counts, cellularity and regions worth a closer look; the pathologist confirms or corrects every suggestion before it enters the report.
Earlier slides are one click away, counts are consistent between readers, and the pathologist keeps the final word on every field.
- Whole-slide images stored alongside the case and compared side by side
- Annotation and measurement directly on the slide
- AI-assisted screening flagged for review, never entered as the diagnosis
- Every suggestion traceable to the model version that produced it

Use case 04 · Production animals
Necropsy in a production herd, with the paperwork checked before it holds up the case
- dAI Edge
- dAI DataHub
- dAI Clarity
A necropsy case in a herd comes with consent forms, movement documents and export and health certificates, and a missing signature is discovered only when the report is ready to go out.
Documents are checked for completeness and consistency as they arrive, the necropsy, histopathology and microbiology results sit in one case record, and the report and the certificates are drafted from the same data.
Missing paperwork is caught on day one rather than at sign-out, and the herd's case history stays in one place for the next visit.
- Automated checking of consent, movement and health-certificate documents
- One case record across necropsy, histopathology and microbiology
- Herd-level records alongside individual animals
- Report and certificate drafts from the same underlying data

Use case 05 · Referral clinic
Surgery slots, hospitalisation capacity and insurance claims in one plan
- dAI Inference
- dAI Clarity
Consultations, surgery, sampling appointments, staff rotas and boarding capacity are planned in separate calendars, and insurance claims are assembled by hand at the end of the month.
One schedule covers consultations, surgery slots, sampling, staff rotas, analyser and scanner availability and hospitalisation and boarding capacity. Consultations, procedures, medications and panels are tracked from estimate to invoice, and claims are prepared from the clinical record.
One place to plan the week, invoices that match what was done, and claims ready without the month-end reconciliation.
- Consultations, surgery, sampling and rotas in one calendar
- Hospitalisation and boarding capacity planned with everything else
- Estimate to invoice for consultations, procedures, medications, panels and pathology cases
- Insurance claims prepared from the clinical record
